January 14 – January 18, 2013
Crossley Gallery, Ringling College of Art + Design
Fine Arts majors: Katie Aucoin, Shannon Chong, Cutter Hume, Jen Pappas, Bianca Rylee and Hunter Slade present new work produced in their third year of studies at Ringling College in an exhibition titled “IN SYNC.”

Opening Reception: Friday January 11th 2013 from 7:00PM – 9:00PM
Katie Aucoin explores the relationship between light and shadow through intricate patterns in her metal work. Shannon Chong’s work is informed by her experiences as an American with a multifaceted cultural heritage. The work comments on the still prevalent if subtle prejudgment of perceived minorities in our culture. Cutter Hume seeks to create interaction between his “monster” sculptures and the viewer. Through her exploration of repetitive mark making with paint, Jen Pappas’ explores an individual imagining their deteriorating mental state. Bianca Rylee’s work is a nostalgic reflection of a Southern upbringing and abandonment using floral patterns and portraiture. Hunter Slade’s paintings explore a wide range of color, line and texture as he contemplates the relationship between technology and the organic world.
