Ground Control, Noelle Mason

The exhibit, “Persistent Vision,” features Mason’s works with varying themes, including “Ground Control,” which reflects a contradistinction between free international exchange and restrictions on human immigration, and “Decision Altitude,” which blurs the lines between immortality and death.

Mason was raised in southern California where she earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine. She was a 2004 resident at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and she received a Master of Fine Arts the following year from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has shown her work nationally and internationally in nontraditional spaces, galleries and institutions, including the National Museum of Mexican Art and the Smithsonian Institute. She also is the recipient of a Jerome Fellowship and the Illinois Art Council International Artist Grant.

Opening reception from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, in the Fine Art Gallery at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, building 11 North. Mason will present a gallery discussion from 5- 6 p.m. prior to the reception.
