“I am particularly interested in the interplay between a simplicity of materials and mechanical systems and a visual and acoustic complexity evolving out of these systems, once they are set in motion,” says Zimoun.

Zimoun «Sculpting Sound» : The Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, USA from ZIMOUN on Vimeo.

The sound sculptures and installations of Zimoun are graceful, mechanized works of structural simplicity in an industrial-like setting that reveals a complex and intricate relationships and interplay between the “artificial” and the “organic.” Zimoun creates sound pieces from basic components, often using multiples of the same prepared mechanical elements to examine the creation and degeneration of patterns. This will be the first showing of Zimoun’s work in Florida and one of the few showings of his work in the United States.

The opening of the exhibition will coincide with the Ringling International Arts Festival (RIAF), a five-day festival featuring performing artists from around the world and will complement the diverse offering of international performing artists featured.
