Sarasota County waterways are subject of student photo exhibition. The experiences of two Ringling College of Art and Design students who interned with Sarasota County Environmental Services will be chronicled in a new photo exhibition titled “Immersion – A photographic exploration of Sarasota’s waterways,” which will be on display Oct. 7 – Nov. 4 at the Sarasota Vineyard, 1528 Main Street, Sarasota.

The photo exhibition will open with a reception 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, featuring an introduction of Ringling College photography and digital imaging students Samantha Delia and Paul Patterson. Light refreshments and live music will be provided at the reception.

Delia and Patterson’s work reveals the beauty of Sarasota County’s natural landscapes and highlights the rivers, shorelines, bays and Gulf waters that make Sarasota one of the most popular destination spots for nature lovers.

“We work in the environment every day and have gotten used to the beauty,” said Amanda Dominguez, Sarasota County environmental specialist. “These pictures were shot through the eyes of young people who were experiencing the beauty for the first time and that perspective translates into some stunning photographs.”

Delia and Patterson spent the last few months as interns for Sarasota County. They are currently part of a Sarasota County project to provide high-quality nature photography to the general public while documenting these important natural systems.
